ENTRECRUCES. MIRADAS SOBRE EL DISEÑO ARGENTINO

“ENTRECRUCES: miradas sobre el diseño argentino” es la muestra curada por Fundación IDA, en el marco del Programa “San José Creativa” (Municipalidad de San José, Costa Rica), 3er Encuentro de Industrias Creativas. Exhibida del 21 al 25 de agosto en el emblemático Edificio Maroy, patrimonio histórico-arquitectónico de la ciudad, designada por la UNESCO en 2019 como “Ciudad Creativa del Diseño”.

¿Qué tiene para exponer el diseño, acerca de la identidad? ¿Cuáles son las características híbridas del diseño argentino?

De manera inadvertida o deliberada, el diseño refleja las inquietudes y conexiones presentes en la sociedad. “ENTRECRUCES: miradas sobre el diseño argentino” es una selección de objetos y documentos que componen la colección de Fundación IDA y nos adentran en las búsquedas, prácticas y discursos de diseñadoras y diseñadores argentinos enmarcados en ese espacio complejo de encuentro y divergencia que llamamos identidad.

Esta propuesta curatorial, seleccionada a partir del acervo de IDA, establece diálogos posibles entre el pasado y el presente de la disciplina nacional. Cada forma, materialidad y textura opera como un testimonio tangible de las experiencias personales y colectivas desde los oficios, el modernismo y la consolidación del diseño hasta las manifestaciones contemporáneas. 

El recorrido propuesto para el Programa “San José Creativa”, aborda casi un siglo de historia y se configura por medio de 4 enfoques: Resiliencia popular, Mixtura regional, Canon y funcionalidad e Impulso institucional. Cada uno de estos ejes se ve atravesado por las diferentes áreas del diseño que conforman el acervo patrimonial de IDA: diseño de indumentaria y textil, diseño gráfico y comunicación visual, diseño de producto e industria y gestión estratégica del diseño. 

El conjunto de piezas activa un recorrido para pensar sobre ese lugar de encuentro con nosotros mismos y con nuestro entorno. Celebramos las diferentes facetas del diseño argentino.

"ENTRECRUCES: Perspectives on Argentine Design" is the exhibition curated by Fundación IDA, as part of the "San José Creativa" Program (Municipality of San José, Costa Rica), 3rd Meeting of Creative Industries. Displayed from August 21 to 25 in the iconic Maroy Building, a historical and architectural landmark of the city, designated by UNESCO in 2019 as a "Creative City of Design."

What does design have to say about identity? What are the hybrid characteristics of Argentine design?

Whether inadvertently or deliberately, design reflects the concerns and connections present in society. "ENTRECRUCES: Perspectives on Argentine Design" is a selection of objects and documents from Fundación IDA’s collection that delves into the explorations, practices, and discourses of Argentine designers within the complex space of encounter and divergence we call identity.

This curatorial proposal, selected from IDA's collection, establishes possible dialogues between the past and present of the national discipline. Each form, materiality, and texture acts as a tangible testimony to personal and collective experiences, ranging from crafts, modernism, and the consolidation of design to contemporary manifestations.

The journey proposed for the "San José Creativa" Program covers nearly a century of history and is structured around 4 focuses: Popular Resilience, Regional Mixture, Canon and Functionality, and Institutional Momentum. Each of these axes intersects with the different areas of design that make up IDA's heritage collection: fashion and textile design, graphic design and visual communication, product and industrial design, and strategic design management.

The collection of pieces activates a journey to reflect on that meeting place with ourselves and our environment. We celebrate the different facets of Argentine design.
